“I started working with Dave in the late summer of 2020. Being over 50 years old and just starting to learn guitar, Dave provided non-judgmental, learn at your own pace lessons. He also pushes and encourages you to go farther than you thought you could. Dave has been a very patient teacher who is unbelievably knowledgeable about guitar, music theory, learning methods and he is great at motivating people to practice. I started with Dave in person, however my area experienced another COVID shutdown. I was reluctant to continue my lessons through Skype but gave it a try. Although it is not the same, I love learning via Skype. I don’t have to leave my house and find it more convenient. Even when the COVID numbers are better I am thinking of doing half my lessons in person and half by Skype.

In only a few short months Dave has me learning at a great pace and I am  so happy with my progress. Dave welcomes questions and also will help me with different songs I want to learn. He has also been incredibly flexible with my ever changing schedule.  I highly recommend Dave if you are looking for an honest, reliable, dedicated guitar teacher.”~Theresa M

“I had just started my first in-person lessons with Dave ( my first instrumental lesson in my life) , when the shutdown came upon us. Dave offered to continue the lessons by Skype,  but I was hesitant to do so thinking this is tough enough just taking guitar lessons by itself , and I would just wait it out until we could meet in person. Dave approached me again about Skype, and I thought, “ nothing ventured, nothing gained” so agreed to continue lessons by Skype. Well it just turned out great ! I sit in the comfort of my own surroundings and can easily see and hear what Dave is teaching me. It allows me the opportunity to warm up immediately before our lesson and to continue with my practicing right after our lesson is completed. I still look forward in taking lessons in person with Dave but taking lessons by Skype has presented its own unique advantages.”~Don L

“I first started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. I took lessons for 4 years and loved to play. During this time my mother used to place my guitar against the wall near the front door. When I walked in I would see it and 9 times out of 10 I would pick it up and start practicing/playing.

As a teenager I was too caught up with everything and although I continued to play I didn’t get any better.

Once I was married I had no time to play with three kids who all became very active.

At age 57 I started playing in a praise band now and then and loved it, but again realized I was playing very basic and not great.

I am now in my third year with David Walker (60 years old) and I can’t believe that I know the notes in different positions up the neck of the quitar, different chords, keys and theory that I never believed I would know.

David Walker is patient and only moves me on with the next lessons and/or songs when he feels that I am ready to do so. He challenges me with different songs and theory.  He is very knowledgeable in his ability to teach guitar and I am thankful that I am able to take lessons with him and continue to improve at playing the guitar.

I will continue to work hard and will continue in my lessons until I am at a place where I can say I know how to play the guitar and I play it great.

If I was 14 years old again, I would never have stopped taking lessons.

My one suggestion to all of you young and old guitar players: never give up on something you love.  Practice, practice and practice.  You only become great if you work hard.  If it becomes  easy then find another song that challenges you or write your own music.

Music is great for the soul whether you are happy , sad, mad or bored.  Pick up your guitar and play.  You will always be glad that you did.”~Karen Z

“As a newer student to guitar I was very skeptical and nervous about switching from in person to Skype lessons.  Also not being tech savvy I wasn’t going to try it at all but also knew that I didn’t have the knowledge base to learn on my own. I have now had multiple lessons via Skype and am very pleased and surprised with how well they are going. Dave is a fantastic teacher and will guide you how to log on and get started. Please give it a try,  you won’t be disappointed. Happy playing.” ~Lee M.

“I started quite tentatively with Dave as an adult learner about a year and a half ago.  My trick pinky made me quite insecure.  I thought I would never hit that pinky G chord or F#.  With Dave’s motivation and encouragement, I have moved beyond that.  His patience with my lack of music theory background is much appreciated.  When pandemic panic hit the world, this “people person” student was reluctant to resort to online tutoring sessions.  But I missed my classes …. I missed learning more and that added guidance from my instructor.  So I eventually gave in, tried the virtual platform and I have not looked back since.  Dave not only has a wealth of knowledge but he knows how to share it.  Dave knows when to push forward and challenge or when to pause and hammer home a lesson.  I have recommended his classes to others and I would continue to do so, having full confidence that your guitar learning needs will be met to your satisfaction with his knowledge, motivation and great sense of humour.  Thanks Dave … now I am not afraid to play like “it’s the best thing you’ve ever heard!” ~Danitra M.
